Hike, Kayak Wild Alaska on New Adventure Life Tour

Wild Alaska

Combine hiking in the vast, unspoiled Wrangell-St. Elias National Park with kayaking among the icebergs and islands of Prince William Sound on Adventure Life’s new two-week Ultimate Alaska tour. Minimizing travel time between destinations with bush planes and water taxis, guests will maximize remote active experiences that also include ice climbing, river rafting and wildlife viewing. The 14-day tour starts at $5,150 per person, based on double occupancy, with departures starting June 1, 2018. Call 800-344-6118 or visit for more information.

Guests will begin by flying from Anchorage to the remote wilderness of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest national park in the United States. From Kennicott, hike to Root Glacier and explore crevasses, glacial pools and an ice cave, or try ice climbing. Next, fly by bush plane to a remote camp for a customized multi-day hiking adventure with a guide in a backcountry paradise of glaciated valleys, clear alpine lakes, high-altitude tundra and abundant wildlife. After returning to Kennicott, raft the Kennicott and Nizina rivers, then get picked up by bush plane for a flight-seeing tour of the area.

From Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, guests will fly to Valdez for a multi-day kayaking and camping tour in Prince William Sound. Cruise to Heather Bay by water taxi, then set out paddling past towering icebergs near Columbia Glacier and around Glacier Island to Bull Head and Chamberlain Bay, watching for sea otters, harbor seals, Stellar sea lions, puffins, cormorants and possibly orcas. On Glacier Island, go beachcombing, climb up ridgelines and hike through rainforest. Return to Valdez by water taxi before flying back to Anchorage to depart.
