With Iceland’s growing popularity, there is a need to discover or uncover the hidden gems that this popular destination has to offer. Hidden Iceland, an adventure tour operator based in Reykjavík, has designed and runs tours as if they are taking their friends and family around Iceland, to show off this incredible country. This means they find the best and sometimes hidden sights across Iceland to make you feel like you are traveling with them, as a small group of friends, seeking out the magic of Iceland.
- South Coast: Fire & Ice Tour
- Golden Circle: Platinum Tour
- Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon: 2 Day Tour
- Glacier Hike: Falljökull Glacier
The company is run by two Wilderness First Responders, Ryan Connolly and Scott Drummond. Scott is also a geologist, giving him more credibility in his understanding of Iceland’s land formations and climate. They paired together on this venture because they wanted to give visitors a better experience of what Iceland has to offer, rather than jamming 50 people on a coach bus that gives minimal time for visitors to really enjoy each stop. Connolly and Drummond really wanted to create something that they would offer to their friend and family, limiting each tour group to 12 people so visitors can take their time during the tour. They also do each tour in reverse from what other touring companies do, as in when the Hidden Iceland group departs from a spot is when the crowds begin to come in.
The experiences they offer are great for any of the below types of trips:
- Solo trips for women
- Adventure tourism
- Honeymooon – they’ve had two proposals, one being on a glacier since they launched in November
- Budget and great value tours for budget/last minute traveling
- Bucket list
- Hidden gem adventure – feeling of an exclusive tour for a great value
