In less than 3 weeks Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat, Ontario’s newest glamping destination, will be opening for its first full season. Whispering Springs initially opened September 2017 (soft opening), with weekends selling out almost immediately. This season, Whispering Springs is expanding from four to ten luxe safari tents on their 200 acre glamp-ground 90 minutes east of Toronto. Amenities on the resort currently include a saltwater pool, hot tub, communal campfire, beach volleyball, badminton, bocce ball and horseshoes.
Each safari tent at Whispering Springs features running water, electricity and an ensuite washroom (along with soaker tubs and signature bath products). Akin to a boutique hotel, every safari tent has its own theme and is furnished with vintage and antique finds. Whispering Spings also boast a licensed bar and patio, serving up some of Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties finest beers, wines and ciders, not to mention speciality camping-inspired cocktails and appetizers. A complimentary breakfast basket, delivered to your tent in the morning, features homemade granola, Greek yogurt, seasonal fruit and baked goods.
With 2018 weekends quickly booking up, it appears that glamping is becoming a popular trend in Ontario, particularly among millennials and camping newbies. More than a dozen weddings and corporate events are already booked for the 2018 season, suggesting that Torontonians are looking for new and meaningful ways to connect and celebrate with each other and the great outdoors. Later this season, Whispering Springs will also be hosting its first Health + Harvest Wellness Retreat, focusing on mindful eating, daily yoga and meditation, and farm-to-table meals.
