Shakti Ladakh Reopens for the Summer Season

Shakti Ladakh

To mark the opening of the 2019 season, here is a breathtaking collage of new images of Shakti Ladakh, shot by New York based photography team Gentl & Hyers. Showcasing the spectacular landscapes, dining, faces and cultures of the region, Shakti Himalaya’s new images capture the heart and soul of Shakti – authenticity, remote wildness, new experiences and an understanding of other cultures.

Situated in the far north of the sub-continent, over 3,500 meters up on the high plateau, Ladakh is often referred to as ‘Little Tibet’.  With a high-altitude desert dominated by rugged snow-capped mountains and deep turquoise lakes it is one of the most picturesque places on earth.

Shakti Himalaya offers a ‘village house’ experience that takes guests off the beaten track to untouched villages in the Indus valley. Delicious, authentic dining aids recovery after a day’s walking through the villages and landscapes of these remote mountain regions. Accompanied by local porters and guides, guests will walk between villages, visit local schools, temples, monasteries and markets, to get a full understanding of the culture of Ladakh, its people, religion and customs.  The walks are the perfect antidote to the frenetic world that most of us live in and can be completely tailored to suit the pace and fitness of the traveler.  Shakti also offers camping in isolated but beautiful locations, with the chance to spend the night in a tented camp under some of the clearest night skies to be found in the world.  River rafting is also offered on the Indus and Zanskar rivers for the more adventurous guest.

Shakti Ladakh (available from May to end September annually) offer 7-night journey from US $6,815 (£5,238) per person based on 2 sharing, and including private accommodation in village houses on a fully inclusive basis including all meals and beverages, all activities including two raft trips, an accompanying English speaking guide, private chef, support guide and porters, car at disposal and taxes with transfers between Leh Airport and the village experience.  Flights not included.
