At Think Big! A Tiny House Resort in upstate New York’s Catskill Mountains, all nine adorable accommodations are good-dog-friendly. And because a night’s sleep in a cozy, private hideaway is always better after an active day outdoors, this one-of-a-kind destination will offer more for dogs and their humans to do on-property this summer than ever.
“Tennis Balls for All” is the promise of Myla’s Dog Park, newly dedicated to resort manager Marjorie Juszczak’s late Sheltie, Myla, a world-traveling canine whose nurturing, lovable spirit guides the development of the resort’s amenities for dogs and their owners. Recent upgrades to this spacious, enclosed, off-leash play place for pooches include the addition of running water, bowls and a contemplative seating area, plus an expanded selection of doggie toys.
Several of the resort’s custom-built tiny houses—like The Lux with its gourmet kitchen, electric fireplace, rainfall shower and loft queen bed—have newly fenced-in patios, where guests can barbecue and unwind with their dogs.
Also new this summer season, guests with or without their own dogs are invited to participate in daily Pack Walks on the wooded property’s trails. These leisurely outings offer companionship for social dogs and opportunities for dog lovers to mingle and share while enjoying the exercise and fresh air. For owners and dogs who like to go it alone, the 28-acre resort offers scenic space to roam.
Here in the eastern Catskills, just two hours north of New York City, there is plenty more for families with dogs to enjoy, from farm markets and al fresco restaurants to famous hikes and hidden swimming holes.
