Dunton River Camp in Colorado Reopens for the 2019 Summer Season

Dunton River Camp

Dunton Destinations located on the banks of the West Fork of Colorado’s Dolores River, is now open for the summer season.

Set on 500 acres of untouched wilderness in the Colorado Rockies, the River Camp is located four miles downstream from sister property, Dunton Hot Springs, and features all the amenities of a five-star hotel. The epitome of “glamping,” each 640-square-foot tent is equipped with a spacious en-suite bathroom, private lounging porch, a gas heating stove, two mountain bikes and two yoga mats for guests to use through their stay. Four are located on the West Fork of the Dolores River, the other four are nestled amongst the trees overlooking Mount Wilson, the highest summit in the San Juan Mountains.

Situated 20 feet from the Dolores River is the original 19th-century farmhouse which serves as the dining room; located in its original location, the restored house features a wraparound deck with sweeping views of the Wilson Mountain range. Guests can enjoy seasonal dishes prepared by River Camp Chef Jarrod Regan and even join his team to forage for wild mushrooms and alpine herbs.

Dunton River Camp offers a selection of on-site experiences for every type of guest – from romantic escape to rustic wildlife adventure. Fly fishing, horseback riding and guided hiking are among the seasonal activities included in the resort’s nightly rate. Through the newly revamped Dunton Destinations website, guests can supplement their stay with a wide range of a la carte experience available at an additional cost such as visits to Mesa Verde National Park which is just an hour away, photography tours and mountaineering.

Dunton River Camp is open through October 15, 2019; rates start at $1,300 per night (double occupancy) and include all meals and beverages and a half-day guided activity.
